Is It Reasonable? Reasonable and Unreasonable Accommodations for Occupational Therapy Students in Clinical Settings

Despite the growing number of graduate students with disabilities, little is known about what accommodations are considered reasonable in various occupational therapy fieldwork settings. This study explores which educators perceive as or unreasonable for disabilities. Snowball sampling methodology was used to distribute a virtual survey, using descriptive design. One hundred and sixty-two therapists assistants answered questions relating demographic information, clinical experience supervising students, their judgement regarding commonly requested accommodations. Using quantitative approach, deemed most were allowing use adaptive equipment (n = 156, reasonable: 96.3%) permission excuse oneself from unit maintain health 152, 93.83%).
